Graduate Student Groups
Aerospace Graduate Student Organization (AGSO)
AGSO exists to strengthen relations and promote interaction between the Aerospace Engineering Sciences graduate students, faculty, department officials, industry and the local community for the purposes of strengthening the stature of the department in the wider aerospace community and improving the quality of life of the graduate students. AGSO coordinates social, professional development, mentoring and outreach activities in collaboration with the aerospace department and local organizations, with an emphasis on ensuring access to opportunities for all students.
The African Graduate Student Association's mission is to create a support system and community for African graduate students, thus giving them material and moral support in pursuing their educational goals.
Anthropology Graduate Student Association
The Anthropology Graduate Student Association is comprised of graduate students at theUniversity of Colorado Boulder interested in all fields of Anthropology. AGSA aims to increase connections and relationships between the graduate students, undergraduates, faculty, staff, and alumni of the program through speaker events, monthly meetings, town halls, and other events.
Provides a forum for graduate students to present their research from any discipline in the Humanities and Social Sciences that pertains to East Asia. Students also have a chance to meet and interact with professors from the CU campus as well as from other universities.
ATOC Graduate Students
The ATOC Graduate Students RSO is established to connect the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences graduate program to the wider CU community and the Center for Student Involvement in order to broaden the resources available for graduate students in the ATOC department.
An organization comprised of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers engaged in fundamental and applied science which seeks to promote camaraderie and exchange of knowledge between students across the BioFrontiers Institute and the entire University of Colorado.
Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student Organization
The mission of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student Organization (BMEGSO) is to enhance the experience of graduate students in the biomedical engineering graduate program by fostering a supportive and dynamic community. We are dedicated to promoting professional development, facilitating academic collaboration, and enriching the social environment through active engagement with peers, faculty, and the broader university community.
Classics Graduate Colloquium
The Classics Graduate Colloquium was established in 2016 to provide a mechanism for student/peer leadership to the Classics graduate community. The aims of the organization are to promote social and intellectual community among Classics graduate students and between Classics graduate students and Classics faculty; to allow graduate students a voice in how that social and intellectual community is realized; and to provide opportunities for professionalization above and beyond those already on offer in the department.
The Computer Science Graduate Professional Development Club (CS-GPDC) is a student organization run by and for graduate students from the Computer Science Department at University of Colorado, Boulder. The main goal of the club is to help students prepare for the job market by hosting professional training sessions from peers and industry professionals. In the past, the club has hosted companies such as: Arista, Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle and more for events such as mock interviews, hiring talks, and information sessions.
The Computer Science Graduate Students Association (CSGSA) is a student organization run by and for graduate students from the Computer Science Department at University of Colorado Boulder. Its main goal is to foster community amongst graduate students in the Department of Computer Science and other affiliated departments/institutes. The CSGSA arranges social events, professional development events, and serves as a central forum of representation for graduate students, representing graduate students' interests to the department and broader university administration. CU Boulder Asian Studies Graduate Association
CU Boulder Asian Studies Graduate Association (CUBASGA) is, as its name suggests, a group dedicated to providing students with a forum to present original scholarship on topics related to Asia (primarily, but not limited to, China and Japan).The principal event hosted by CUBASGA is its annual conference, held in late January or February. The conference has, in recent years, accepted papers from students at universities in the continental United States, Hawaii, and Canada. It offers presenters an opportunity to both present their research in front of a supportive audience and receive feedback from both CU's world-class faculty and the conference's visiting keynote speakers, who are leading scholars in the fields of Chinese and Japanese studies.
Student-run seminar series that focuses on inspiring students from underrepresented backgrounds to be successful academics.
Student-driven effort led by grad and undergrad students in the Physics Department at the University of Colorado Boulder. Our goal is to increase inclusion in Physics/STEM fields, especially among traditionally underrepresented groups, through mentorship and community building.
Recruits incoming and continuing undergraduate science majors from diverse backgrounds to a program at Fiske Planetarium and Sommers-Bausch Observatory.
English Graduate Student Council
The English Graduate Student Council (EGSC) exists to serve as the representative body for CU Boulder's English PhD and MA students. We are committed to improving work and study conditions by maintaining open communications, encouraging professional development, advocating on behalf of the graduate students, and promoting a supportive department culture.
A multidisciplinary organization of graduate students, professional students, and postdoctoral fellows. FOSEP works to build bridges between science and society and to foster leaders who are prepared to apply specialized expertise to 21st century challenges.
Geological Sciences Graduate Association (GSGA)
GSGA is a space to connect and foster a space for all Geological Sciences graduate students to talk and develop committees to address specific, tangible issues that people are willing to put in their time and effort into. This organization can allow us to maintain institutional knowledge, concentrate and communicate efforts surrounding desired changes in our department, and foster a supportive, safe space for concerns to be discussed. Our efforts are focused not only on enhancing graduate student life, but increasing and retaining diversity in the department, addressing student concerns, working with faculty, and building and sustaining educational outreach efforts.
Graduate students are represented on campus through GPSG.
Graduate Creative Writing Collective
The Graduate Creative Writing Collective (The Collective) is a graduate-led organization supporting creative writers generating in any genre (fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and hybrid genres) in the department of English at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The Collective is committed to advocating for the creative writing projects and processes of their classmates by promoting a robust sense of creative collegial culture and community via initiatives that give the time and impetus for the generation of and engagement with creative writing.
Graduate Musicology Society
The mission of GradSWE is to foster a strong sense of community and provide support to graduate students from historically underrepresented, underserved, and marginalized identities in engineering throughout their academic journeys.
A student group that aims to create and maintain space for self-identified students of color to gather and support each other in the School of Education and at CU Boulder. Our hope is to hold formal and informal gatherings throughout school year and potentially host events and collaborate with other graduate students and organizations. History Graduate Student Association (HGSA)
The HGSA serves as a positive, inclusive forum for history graduate students. We do so by providing professional development opportunities that are applicable for students seeking careers both within and without the academy, and by building community within our department through social events. We also serve as a conduit between the graduate student body and our department's leadership, including the Director of Graduate Studies, the department chair, and the Graduate Studies Committee. Finally, we seek to bring a speaker a campus each spring, thereby creating a space for discussion and engagement.
Information Science Graduate Student Association
The INFO GSA is the Information Science Department's graduate student organization. This organization focuses broadly on financial funding, student activities and community building, as well as providing safe-spaces for students to collect to express concerns about faculty or administration as related to the Information Science Department and/or the University of Colorado at large. It is also a space for emerging leaders in the department to get experience with roles in service at a departmental and university-level.
Our community encourages and equips Boulder graduate students and faculty to follow Christ as they seek to be a redeeming influence among the people, ideas, and structures of the university and professions.​
Korean Graduate Student Association (KGSA) consists of about 50 Korean/Korean-American students and post-docs in graduate school at CU Boulder. It also includes about a dozen of faculty members at CU Boulder and some CU Boulder alumni living nearby. The main purpose of KGSA is to promote friendship among its members and broaden understanding of Korea and Korean culture in CU Boulder and Boulder community. We are willing to build a bridge to help students better understand Korean culture and increase the diversity of our campus.
Native Graduate Student Group
NGSG is a collective of Indigenous and Indigenous-allied graduate students who work to develop and foster Indigenous community at CU Boulder and throughout the greater Front Range. We are sponsored and supported by CU Boulder's Center for Native American and Indigenous studies (CNAIS) and maintain one graduate student member on the Center's executive board. Support from CNAIS allows us to put on a speaker series each year which we meet monthly to organize. NGSG also works with other Indigenous orgs on campus including the American Indian Law Program, and in the greater Front Range community.
Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Graduate Chapter
The CU Boulder graduate student chapter of SIAM was founded as an organization to meet the needs of graduate students interested in mathematics and its applications. Chapter functions include technical presentations by students, faculty, and industry speakers, field trips and social events.Â
Spanish and Portuguese Graduate Association
The objective of this organization is to serve as the main graduate student government of the Spanish and Portuguese Department. SPGA shall represent all graduate students of the Spanish and Portuguese Department and foster the intellectual community of the department. Members of SPGA will annually organize the Spanish and Portuguese Graduate Conference, which will contribute to develop the academic and professional careers of graduate student at the department. Furthermore, this event is public and open to everyone, so it will benefit the CU community in general, as well as the City of Boulder community in particular, offering a unique opportunity to bring together diverse scholars from CU-Boulder and from other institutions of higher education from around the country.
STEM Routes
STEM Routes is a graduate student-led organization that works to create an inclusive, supportive community for students in STEM.
WiSE is committed to providing coaching, mentorship, networking, and support for women in STEM fields.
Campus & Local Organizations
A gathering usually in a friendly pub after work to hear an informal introduction to an interesting current scientific topic, led by an expert. Gatherings take place in Boulder, Denver and Fort Collins.
Currently an annual gathering in August in association with the Colorado Learning and Teaching with Technology Conference (COLTT).

Center for Cultural Connections and Community (The Center)
Offers a range of academic and cultural programs to help you become part of a vital, caring community that will change you and that you, in turn, will change.
The Alumni Association’s initiative to engage CU Boulder's 240,000 alumni and 30,000 students in every step of their lives whether that be driving with a CU license plate to support student scholarships, helping with career advice, hosting CU watch parties across the country, or traveling to exotic places together.
A scientific research society which includes members from the area federal labs and IBM labs.
National Graduate Student Organizations
The AWIS offers free membership for CU Boulder students studying in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical fields. Benefits include: access to career opportunities, a subscription to the AWIS magazine, job postings, funding resources, and networking opportunities.

CGS is an organization of institutions of higher education across the globe engaged in research and graduate education. Its mission is to improve and advance graduate education in order to ensure the vitality of intellectual discovery. CGS accomplishes its mission through advocacy at the federal policy level, aiding students in their research, and the development and dissemination of best practices.
(NAGPS)
NAGPS strives to be the umbrella organization representing all the graduate and professional students in the country. Its threefold mission is to: (1) develop and sustain a member network to connect graduate and professional students and their associations, (2) provide resources and support to empower members, and (3) advocate at local and national levels on their behalf.
Volunteering
Service Learning and Impact in Community Engagement (SLICE)
The Service Learning and Impact in Community Engagement (SLICE) is CU Boulder’s volunteer placement service. SLICE links students, staff, and faculty to community programs for both short- and long-term volunteer service that match a variety of interests, including education, law, health, environment, animals, disabilities, seniors, women, justice, arts, language, culture and more. SLICE hosts volunteer fairs at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters, short-term service projects, Alternative Breaks volunteer trips during university breaks, campuswide food and shelter supply drives, and CU’s annual day of service, Better Boulder Better World.
