Pat supports the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) in reviewing and revising faculty-related policies and guidelines, develops policy toolkits, and provides individual consultations for faculty members with questions and concerns about campus processes.Ģż
Pat is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Journalism. His research is in media sociology and primarily concerns itself with how shifting notions of āorganizationā in journalism influences journalism practice. Specifically, his work examines organization-level variablesā impact on message construction. He is particularly interested in how various market models of journalism affect news production processes.ĢżĢż
Prior to CU Boulder, Pat taught at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois; the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri; and Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. He holds an undergraduate degree in sociology from Providence College, a masterās in journalism from Emerson College, and a PhD with a focus in journalism studies/media sociology from the University of Missouriās School of Journalism.ĢżĢż
Fun Fact: When he was a journalist, Pat spent roughly nine years predominantly covering rock music for various media. Because of the job and his life-long love of music, Patās attended more than 2,000 concerts, a number he enjoys adding to.Ģż
