<p>Professor Robert S. Anderson of the University of Colorado Boulder’s geological sciences department and Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research has been awarded the 2014 Hazel Barnes Prize, the most distinguished award a faculty member can receive from the university.</p>

<p>Lucien Castaing-Taylor, a professor of anthropology at Harvard University who previously taught at CU-Boulder, will present and discuss his award-winning documentary “Leviathan” on Thursday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in room E-50 of the Muenzinger building.

<p>Academy Award winner Alex Gibney will screen his 2013 documentary “We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks” on Monday, May 5, at 7 p.m. in room 102 of the ATLAS building. Both screenings are free and open to the public.</p>

<p class="p1">Continued employment expansion in Colorado in the first half of 2014 is signaled in a quarterly report released today by Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler and prepared by the University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business.</p>
<p class="p1">“Coloradans continue to persevere and show their can-do spirit by pursuing the American dream,” said Gessler. “As these business leaders create jobs, hopefully our employment continues to tick upwards.”</p>

<p>Byron Chrisman (’66), perhaps one of the University of Colorado Boulder Law School’s most unlikely success stories, attributes his success as a tax attorney and real estate developer to his experience at Colorado Law.</p>
<p>Now he and his wife, Carlene, have committed a $10 million bequest to endow the Byron and Carlene Chrisman Chairs in Free Enterprise at Colorado Law. When realized upon their passing, this estate gift will be the largest cash gift in the history of Colorado Law.</p>

<p>The Rocky Mountain Lighting Academy (RMLA) will offer a one-of-a-kind immersive educational opportunity for lighting professionals this summer at the University of Colorado Boulder.</p>
<p>The RMLA’s Summer Lighting Course is scheduled for June 23-27 on the CU-Boulder campus. The course will present the theory of lighting within a practical context, making it directly applicable to the needs of those working in engineering, product development and technical sales positions.</p>

<p>The University of Colorado Boulder plans to break ground May 12 on several new athletics facilities and upgrades to Folsom Field after a record-breaking year of private donations.</p>
<p>CU-Boulder will celebrate this announcement during halftime of the spring football game on Saturday, April 12. The game, covered live by the Pac-12 Network, will kickoff at 12 p.m. at Folsom Field. The ceremony will feature remarks from CU President Bruce Benson, CU-Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano, Athletic Director Rick George and two student-athletes, Juda Parker (football) and Clare Wise (skiing).</p>

<p>The University of Colorado Boulder today announced the hiring of Timothy Orr as producing artistic director of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival.</p>
<p>Orr has been serving as interim director since February 2013 and was hired at the conclusion of a nationwide search for a permanent director.</p>
<p>Orr has been with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival as a performer since 2007 and joined the staff as the associate producing director in 2011. </p>

<p>A record number of University of Colorado Boulder students have received a prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, which recognizes outstanding graduate students in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.</p>

<p>Members of the business community are invited to attend AeroSpace Ventures Day on April 17 at the University of Colorado Boulder.</p>
<p>The all-day event offers aerospace industry technologists, scientists and managers a chance to connect with 24 CU-Boulder faculty members and to learn about technological and scientific advances with applications ranging from human space exploration to climate and weather. Corporate recruiters and hiring managers also are invited to meet with the 140 undergraduate and graduate engineering students who have registered for the event.</p>
