For generations, Homecoming has welcomed Buffs back to Boulder to reconnect with friends, relive favorite memories and celebrate the traditions that unite our community. This year, join alumni, students, families and friends for an especially meaningful Homecoming weekend as CU Boulder celebrates its 150th anniversary.

Celebrate your CU pride as the campus and Boulder community come together on campus for a Homecoming parade and pep rally.

Spend your afternoon relaxing in the backyard of the Koenig Alumni Center, sampling fine brews and wines crafted by a dozen CU Boulder alumni!

Please note that class reunions and the annual Alumni Awards ceremony are now part of the new Alumni Weekend in the spring.

A Tradition Worth Coming Home For

Long before social media and smartphones kept us all connected, Buffs were returning to Boulder to reconnect and celebrate their CU pride during Homecoming.

Today, we continue that tradition.

1914

First homecoming

November 7, 1914. “C” men vs. Utah. CU won 33-0.

1924

Dedication of Colorado Stadium

Colorado Stadium (now Folsom Field) was officially dedicated during the homecoming this year, on Homecoming Day (November 1). The stadium was first used on October 11, 1924, as Colorado defeated Regis College, 39-0.

1933

Annual fraternity egg fight

Beta Theta Pi and Phi Delta had a long running egg fight between the two which occasionally coincided with homecoming celebrations.

1971

Ralphie named Homecoming queen

Everyone's favorite live mascot takes home the Homecoming crown.

1980s

Ralphie's campaign years

“Ralphie for President” and “Vote for Ralphie” campaigns off-and-on. Often with accompanying shirts, pins, etc. with the slogan. There was even a float in the Homecoming Parade, ‘campaigning’ for Ralphie.

Homecoming is about more than returning to Boulder. It's about the milestones, memories and moments that shaped who we are.
