MOVE-IN

Tuesday, August 12 – Drop-off Day (9am-3pm) Parents/students can drop-off items to their assigned rooms but cannot “move-in” – 1776 appointments
Friday, August 15 – Move-in (10am – 1pm) – 1470 appointments
Saturday, August 16 – Move-in (10am – 1pm) – 600 appointments
Sunday, August 17 – Move-in (10am – 4pm) – 2418 appointments
Monday, August 18 – Move-in (9am – 4pm) – 3027 appointments
Tuesday, August 19 – Move-in (9am – 12:30pm) – 1698 appointments

General Parking Notes:

All visitor parking lots, including metered and pay station parking, Euclid Parking Garage and Folsom Parking Garage (Visitor level P1) will be closed August 17-19. These areas are allocated for move-in operations/event parking.
During move-in operations vehicles parked in designated Quick Drop Zones, fire lanes, ADA spaces (without a permit/placard) will be subject to relocation at the owner’s expense.
Only vehicles displaying move-in permits will be allowed access to Regent Drive from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17th, Monday, August 18th, and Tuesday, August 19th.
Only vehicles displaying move-in permits are allowed access to Main Campus, Williams Village and Bear Creek parking lots during move-in parking closures (August 17, 18, and 19.)
Vehicles entering or exiting during this time must follow the active move-in traffic pattern as directed by Parking personnel.

Accessibility and Accommodations:
ADA permit holders may park in their permitted lot or will be directed to the closest available space.

On Central campus:

Willard will unload from lots 319 and 327
Hallett will unload from lot 430 (business lot)
Cheynne will unload from lot 310 and from Wardenburg Drive
Farrand will unload from Wardenburg Drive
Quad, Libby, and Baker will unload from lot 360
Sewall will unload from lot 380

After unloading in the lots above, students and families move their cars to:

Lot 391 (Folsom Garage)
Lot 205 (CASE Garage)
Lot 204
Lot 308 (C4C)
Lot 436 (Regent & Colorado behind CUPD)

Kitt will unload from anywhere in the Kitt Loop (Lots 404, 406, 412, 416, 414, 415, 418

Will Vill unloads from lots 622, 618, the Stearns Bus Stop, and along Apache Dr.

VERY busy traffic planned on the following:

Sunday, August 17 between 9am and 4pm
Monday, August 18 between 8am and 4pm
Tuesday, August 19 between 8am and 1pm

There will also be move-in traffic also during the following times (just in smaller quantities)

Tuesday, August 12 between 9am and 3pm (Drop off day, about 900 appointments)
Friday, August 15 between 9:30am and 12:30 pm (Pre-arrival programs, about 1000 appointments)

Off campus:

Upcoming work on Arapahoe Avenue (CO 7) may cause significant traffic delays during move-in. An alternate route is strongly advised.

East of Foothills Parkway, impacts will include eastbound and westbound left-lane closures for median removal, right-lane closures for Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades, and a traffic shift is anticipated in the next couple of weeks, reducing travel to one lane in each direction.

The CU Museum of Natural History in the Henderson building will be temporarily closed through the end of 2025 to align with the final phase of the Hellems renovation. Both buildings will reopen together at the end of 2025—refreshed and ready to welcome students, campus, and visitors.

A portion of the sidewalk along the east side of Regent Drive, in front of the Event Center, will be closed from July 31 - September 8, 2025, to accommodate storm line work as part of the CHAP Building project. The closure will last for approximately 25 business days, and signage will be posted to direct pedestrians around the affected area. Please plan accordingly and follow posted detours for your safety.

Construction of the Colorado Highway 119 Safety, Mobility and Bikeway Improvements Project has started and will be ongoing through 2027. Once complete, the corridor will have improved bike and bus facilities, and safer and more efficient intersections for all users. In the short term, The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) , the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and Boulder County will be working together to mitigate traffic congestion, delays and crashes and expand transportation options throughout this project. Your usual travel route may be impacted by construction, traffic delays and increased congestion throughout the project.

Immediate impacts:

Niwot Park-n-ride lot will close temporarily, but bus stops will remain active.
Bus stops at north and southbound CO 119 and bus stops at CO 52 (near IBM) will close beginning Sept. 29.
Additionally, there will be lane closures at various times near the following intersections: Jay Road, CO 52, 71st Street, Niwot Road, Oxford Road, 83rd Street, and Airport and Connector roads

Construction has begun for the on campus Limelight Hotel Boulder. The Limelight Conference Center and Hotel at the 1400 block of Broadway will fill the gap in large conference space in the City of Boulder. With approximately 250 rooms and a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, the project will bring a unique venue to the community, capable of hosting events of all sizes, from prominent academic and research conferences to small community gatherings. It will provide a space for innovation and collaboration both locally and internationally.

Residence One will be the first new, modern housing building to open in the area, North Boulder Creek (NBC). It will house 332 upper division students in on-campus apartment-style housing. It will provide neighborhood amenities such as a café, UPS store, and a variety of study space that will serve the students within the surrounding NBC community. In 2021 a structural assessment of the building was completed by a structural engineer. A/E team is currently developing a design to address the recommendations of the report. The scope of work being evaluated consists of: a full structural restoration of the exterior façade of Old Main, foundation repairs and waterproofing, door and window repair and glazing replacement, exterior stair replacement/repairs, chimney & truss repairs, landscape and civil engineering restoration immediately around the building, and Pleasant Street long-term planning and short-term improvements.

Anticipated Occupancy: June 2025
Budget: $13.4 million
Gross square footage: 25,197
