Campus Lock Swap ProgramĚý

Trade in your used cable lock for a new u-lock!ĚýIf you're a current CU Boulder student who pays fees, you can swap your old cable lock for a free u-lock at either campus bike station. Just bring your used cable lock, and you’ll leave with a new, tough u-lock for your bike.Ěý

We have combo and keyed u-locks, depending on what’s available. If you use a combo lock, scramble the numbers every time you park—some thieves look for locks left on the “unlock” setting.Ěý

If you want to buy a u-lock, local Boulder bike shops have good options. If your bike stays outside overnight or you really want extra security, look for an angle grinder-resistant lock. As of fall 2025, we recommend the OnGuard Rock Solid 8590—it’s cheaper and lighter than most other angle grinder-resistant locks.Ěý
